Cardiovascular imaging is an important part of both daily cardiological practice and research. As a leading centre for cardiovascular imaging using computed tomography, we conduct numerous research projects in the field of coronary heart disease (narrowing of the coronary vessels) and structural heart disease (valve diseases, diseases of the heart muscle) in addition to clinical diagnostics.

Research projects

  • CT-guided planning of structural interventions e.g. transcatheter aortic valve replacement
  • Flow simulation using anatomical CT coronary angiography data sets (CT-FFR)
  • Analysis of epicardial and pericoronary fat and its influence on future cardiac events
  • Analysis of the myocardial deformation using computer tomography as a marker of cardiac function
  • Imaging and characterisation of deposits of the coronary vessels
  • Relation between pericoronary fat and cardiovascular outcome
  • Prognostic relevance of coronary fractional flow reserve determined by computer tomography
  • Influence of anatomical CT angiographic parameters of the aortic root on the success after transcatheter aortic valve replacemen
